The smokiest Ardbeg ever to mature into existence.
Introducing the latest Committee-only bottling in the Supernova Series… Ardbeg Hypernova. A dimension beyond the Supernovas that came before it, this fabric-tearingly smoky dram is a slice of Ardbeg history not to be missed.
Possibly the smokiest dram in the world (this one at least), Hypernova possesses a malty magnitude never before experienced. This is a brutally smoky dram that radiates flavour in every direction.
I used to like Super Nova, but it was expensive, the available bars were limited, and encountering it depended on luck, so I haven't had the opportunity to drink it recently. To casually find it at a reasonable price... It must be because of my good deeds ( ̄▽ ̄). The phenol value [a reference value for measuring smokiness. How it actually feels varies from person to person...] seems to be significantly surpassing the previous Super Nova.
At 'Bar Cheat Sheet', after the intoxication assessment test, you can see a list of smoky whiskies.
Tasting it, I was impressed by its dry smokiness aroma. I quite liked it. However, having already tried 'Octomore' with an even more intense smokiness, the impact wasn't as strong as when I first tried 'Super Nova' when I had not tried 'Octomore' yet. Still, it's a drink I'd like to have again if I come across it somewhere.
