One can not truly appreciate malt whisky without knowing its intense character

Big, Intense, Definitive. The spirit is usually matured for at least 16 years,
and we like to think of it as character building. After all, such intense flavour isn't created overnight.

I occasionally drink the 16-year-old Lagavulin, but compared to that, this 14-year-old expression felt slightly fruitier and had more of a 'youthful vigor' rather than the smoothness. However, compared to the straight 'youthful vigor' of something like the younger Lagavulin called 'ILEACH', it is far more rounded. While I enjoy the 16-year-old, I also liked the taste of this one.
