ROYAL BRACKLA AGED 21 YEARS

The Royal Brackla Distillery, established in 1812 on the grounds of Cawdor Castle in the Scottish Highlands, is one of the oldest Scotch whisky distilleries. In 1833, it became the first whisky to receive the "Royal" title and a royal warrant from King William IV, hence known as "whisky fit for a king". This 21-year-old single malt is finished in three types of premium sherry casks: Oloroso, Palo Cortado, and Pedro Ximénez. It features a rich fruity character and an elegant taste profile enhanced by spicy notes from the sherry casks. Non-chill filtered and natural in color.

I feel like I've seen this place in a commercial recently. [TOKYO Whisky Library]

I revisited the 'Whiskey Library' after a long time. Last time, I ordered à la carte and picked interesting whiskeys on the rocks, but this time I went for a set menu with drink pairings. The food was quite sophisticated, though a bit lacking in quantity... Well, considering the price, it can't be helped, I guess? I've experienced food pairings with both Japanese and Western cuisine before, but doing it here really sparked my interest in whiskey. However, except for the last one, all the whiskey pairings were with whiskey soda, so for the final drink, when I could choose how to have it (straight, on the rocks, with water, or with soda), I naturally chose straight. It turns out this brand is even used by the royal family. It was quite delicious.
