I managed to have just one cocktail despite being short on time. I couldn't believe there was such a charming bar in Akabane... The decor evoked a Showa retro vibe, and it suddenly hit me, 'This feels familiar... Oh, it's like Bar Arai Kenguten in Tsukishima.' If it had smelled of hinoki cypress, I might have mistaken it for their second branch. Not just the stylish interior, but the master's graceful movements made me wish I could stay longer. The mature flavor of gin mixed with tomato... and while orange might seem unusual, I was impressed by this combination. The acidity and just the right amount of orange juice, the spiciness gradually giving way to the freshness of the tomatoes infused slowly by the strong gin. It was a cocktail where the unique character of gin was not overwhelmed, yet the freshness was still present.
Akabane... we still don't know its true charm.
