A German digestif made with select herbs, Underberg offers a refreshing herbal flavor. In its native Germany, Underberg is often consumed straight from the bottle. However, mixing it with soda makes it easier to drink.

When I'm at a bar and feeling a bit too tipsy, my go-to is usually a Fernet-Branca with soda to finish the night. But this time, the bar didn't have Fernet, so I went with this instead. It's also bitter and really wakes up the brain. I hear there are quite a few drinkers who keep this stocked in their home fridge too, right?
They didn’t have Fernet-Branca, so I went with this instead. I was already fairly drunk and couldn’t remember the name “Underberg,” so I just said, “you know… the one that looks like a bandolier,” and that did the trick. Seasoned drinkers don’t just stock up on triglycerides and bad cholesterol—we also build up a whole vocabulary for describing the drinks we want, which comes in very handy when we’re drunk. (^o^)
