At 307.2 PPM, Octomore 15.3 is our second most heavily peated release to date. Using 100% Islay barley, matured in bourbon casks and Spanish Oloroso hogsheads. Formidable smoke is countered by ripe fruit from its patient distillation.
The merciless, striking intensity of the peat… it’s addictive, isn’t it? [THE PEAT HOUSE]
I think I once bought an Octomore for home drinking. I remember being amazed that I could “relive” at home the peat shock I first experienced when trying Octomore at a bar ( ̄▽ ̄). If you’re interested in this whisky, definitely give it a try. However… if you plan to taste several other whiskies, I recommend saving this one for last. If you drink it first, the flavors of the whiskies you try afterward will inevitably seem weak and muted for a while.
