So many bars, so many drinks

Glenfarclas 15 Year Old Single Cask (10th Anniversary of Yakitori Konishi)

A private bottling of Glenfarclas released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Yakitori Konishi, a restaurant run by a former bartender from Kobe.

Yakitori Konish

A single cask Scotch whisky… that alone is enough to make it right. [Bar Tenderly]

It had been quite a while since I last had Glenfarclas. The last one I remember drinking was probably Glenfarclas The Family Casks [2005–2016]. It’s a brand I really love, but I hadn’t had many chances to drink it lately, especially after the price of the 105 went up so much. The Family Cask series is even more expensive, of course.
By chance, though, I came across a 15-year-old single cask Glenfarclas that had been privately bottled for a yakitori restaurant in Japan at this bar. I was really happy about that. Just hearing the words “single cask Scotch whisky” makes you think, this is going to be good, doesn’t it? And indeed, it was excellent. It’s always a pleasure to unexpectedly encounter such rare bottles at a bar. I was very satisfied.

By the way, this bar is incredibly popular. At first, I had no choice but to drink my cocktail at the standing bar area — a first-time experience for me. I planned to have just one drink and leave, but ended up ordering a second. Just as I was thinking it was time to head out, a seat at the counter opened up, so I was able to sit down. Considering it’s not even that close to the station, the level of popularity is impressive. It really deserves its reputation as one of Japan’s famous bars. I had watched several videos of the master on YouTube in the past, but I never imagined I would actually get the chance to visit. It had such a wonderful atmosphere. I’d love to go back again.
