NAGAHAMA SINGLE MALT THE EIGHTH BATCH

The distinctive spirit that symbolizes Nagahama Distillery is carefully vatted with two unique cask influences—sakura wood and amburana. Amburana is a Brazilian wood traditionally used for aging cachaça, known for imparting exotic and spicy aromas. This expression represents Nagahama Distillery’s bold attempt to fuse “Japanese” and “ethnic” elements, offering a layered and mysterious flavor profile to be savored to the fullest.

I was blown away by the grainy flavors [PACIFICO YOKOHAMA Exhibition Hall D]

They blended a base spirit that defines the whisky’s character with spirits matured in two special casks—sakura wood and amburana—and carefully vatted them together. I found myself mulling over the unusual flavor for quite a while. It’s likely to divide opinion, but I felt it resonates well with the Japanese palate. That said, there’s a touch of eccentricity to it. With more years of maturation, it might evolve further and deliver an even deeper impression—I’m curious to see how it develops. It goes for a little over ¥12,000 on Amazon. Whether that’s good value is debatable, but if I come across it at a bar, I’d definitely like to try it again.
