Ballantine's AGED 12 YEARS sold in Japan during the 1980s.

I'd always believed that Ballantine's didn't really become a truly great whisky until the 15 Year Old. But the vintage 12 Year Old completely changed my mind. The modern 12 Year Old (assuming it hasn't been discontinued) never struck me as anything special apart from its price. The old 12 Year Old, on the other hand, is absolutely outstanding. I had no idea it was this good.
