This Blended Malt Whisky is matured, vatted and bottled on Chichibu. Non Chill-filtered, Non Coloured

Ichiro's Malt for the first time in a while. [SHIBA DAIMON BAR SHINKAI]

The bartender told me that it's a vatting of whisky from the Chichibu and Hanyu distilleries, but some websites say that it's made by blending malt whisky from Chichibu with malt whisky from Scotland and then giving it additional maturation. Since it's finished in wine casks and is relatively affordable for an Ichiro's Malt, I can't help wondering if this bottle actually falls into the latter category.

If that's the case, strictly speaking, it wouldn't be a purely Japanese whisky—but it was delicious, so I'm fine with that. Nikka's "From the Barrel" isn't technically a pure Japanese whisky either, but it's still really good. The wine cask finish gave this one a lovely wine-like character, which I really enjoyed.
