Rum and Coke, or a Cuba Libre[Spanish pronunciation], "Free Cuba" ("free" here is an adjective, not a verb), is a highball cocktail consisting of cola, rum, and traditionally lime juice on ice.
The cocktail originated in the early 20th century in Cuba, after the country won independence in the Spanish–American War. It quickly became popular across Cuba and in many other countries, and has been one of the world's most popular alcoholic drinks. Traditionally, the cola ingredient is Coca-Cola ("Coke"), and the alcohol is a Cuban light rum such as Bacardi. However, the drink may be made with various types of rums and cola brands, and lime juice may or may not be included.

When I enjoyed drinking Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 for the first time, I asked the bartender "Well this is really good! I know this must be drunk straight. But if you dare to make cocktail with this, what will make with this excellent rum?" He soon answered my question. "Believe it or not Rum and Coke!" Really? I was surprised. The answer is too stale for me. Maybe there must be other good cocktails. However, after I tried drinking Cuba Libre[rum was Ron Zacapa Centenario 23], I was astonished at its taste! Really really really good. "Ron Zacapa Centenario 23" make its cocktail much noble. You can enjoy the combination of coke and excellent rum. They enhance one another. I said to him "Oh! This is really gorgeous!" He replied "Yes! Because this is Luxury Libre". If you have chance to go to bars, please try this!
I wanted to try this "Luxury Libre", which I got to know at Bar Five in Shibuya, at different bars. And when I went to "Cocktail Gastronomy KYU YASUI TOKYO", I explained this special cocktail's recipe and ordered it. Well it was excellent!!
When I visited Bar Five with my frinend, I explained him how excellent Luxury Libre was. But he said to me "Cuba Libre is Rum, Coke and Lime. Although you use excellent Rum, eventually sweet and spicy Coke taste overcomes Rum taste. You must overestimate Ron Zacapa 23 too much!" But after he drank this at bar, he just just went all quiet.
